The StrB 90H is an extremely agile and fast assault vessel, which carries a compliment of 21 (H means half platoon). This boat were manufactured in 147 units initially, but have since had big success abroad as an export commodity, where it is known as the CB90, Combat Boat 90. The CB90 is exceptionally fast and agile. Its light weight, shallow draught, and twin water jets allow it to operate at speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) in shallow coastal waters. The water jets are partially ducted, which, along with underwater control surfaces, allows the CB90 to execute extremely sharp turns at high speed, decelerate from top speed to a full stop in 2.5 boat lengths, and adjust its pitch and roll angle while under way.

The successor of the BevB 70 came during the latter part of the 1990's, and was hence called BevB 80. The new boat were somewhat larger, and carried a compliment of 8 as opposed to the previous 7, in order to increase the mission endurance capability. The BevB 80 are still in active service in the amphibious units.

This is the corvette class stealth ship used by the Swedish Navy. This boat can reach a top speed of 40 knots, and is virtually IR and radar invisible. The draught is very shallow, only 2.4 meters, which is remarkable for a ship of 840 tones displacement, since the propulsion units are waterjet and not the standard propeller drive. The ships' armament consist of a 57mm automatic cannon, the 57 Mk3 by BAE systems, 8 Anti-ship missiles type RBS 15, 4 Torpedo 45 and rails for mine dispensing. This ship has a very rugged design, capable of light ice breaking and extremely harsh polar conditions. This boat were manufactured in 147 units initially, but have since had big success abroad as an export commodity, where it is known as the CB90, Combat Boat 90. The CB90 is exceptionally fast and agile. Its light weight, shallow draught, and twin water jets allow it to operate at speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) in shallow coastal waters. The water jets are partially ducted, which, along with underwater control surfaces, allows the CB90 to execute extremely sharp turns at high speed, decelerate from top speed to a full stop in 2.5 boat lengths, and adjust its pitch and roll angle while under way.

The successor of the BevB 70 came during the latter part of the 1990's, and was hence called BevB 80. The new boat were somewhat larger, and carried a compliment of 8 as opposed to the previous 7, in order to increase the mission endurance capability. The BevB 80 are still in active service in the amphibious units.

This is the corvette class stealth ship used by the Swedish Navy. This boat can reach a top speed of 40 knots, and is virtually IR and radar invisible. The draught is very shallow, only 2.4 meters, which is remarkable for a ship of 840 tones displacement, since the propulsion units are waterjet and not the standard propeller drive. The ships' armament consist of a 57mm automatic cannon, the 57 Mk3 by BAE systems, 8 Anti-ship missiles type RBS 15, 4 Torpedo 45 and rails for mine dispensing. The SKELDAR V-200 is a small surveillance UAV with a max range of 180 km and 5 hours flight endurance.



The Alouette II became known as Helikoter 2 in the Swedish armed forces. This is a light surveillance helicopter, also used for light transports, and search and rescue missions. It's top speed is a mere 170 kph. The helicopter takes a maximum of 5 people.

The Helikopter 4 , also known as "bananen" (the banana) is a multi-role medium transport helicopter, with a top speed of 270 kph (150 knots). In the anti-submarine version, this helicopter is equipped with sink bombs and anti-submarine torpedoes. As a troop carrier, it can take 26 fully equipped soldiers.

Helikopter 6 is the army version of the Augusta-Bell 206 JetRanger, same as the OH-58 Kiowa. The Hkp6B version also had inflatable pontoons, making it possible to emergency land on open water, as the helicopter was used for submarine hunting and equipped with anti-submarine torpedoes.

Helikopter 14 is the Swedish version of the NHIndustries model NH90 HCV. This aircraft was integrated in the Swedish military forces in 2007. It is a fairly fast transport helicopter, maxing out at 324 kph, or 180 knots. Maximum take-off weight is 10800 kg, maximum altitude gain is 8,7 m/s and ceiling is 6000 meters. Armament consists of door mounted machine gun when needed.

This is the corvette class stealth ship used by the Swedish Navy. This boat can reach a top speed of 40 knots, and is virtually IR and radar invisible. The draught is very shallow, only 2.4 meters, which is remarkable for a ship of 840 tones displacement, since the propulsion units are waterjet and not the standard propeller drive. The ships' armament consist of a 57mm automatic cannon, the 57 Mk3 by BAE systems, 8 Anti-ship missiles type RBS 15, 4 Torpedo 45 and rails for mine dispensing. This ship has a very rugged design, capable of light ice breaking and extremely harsh polar conditions. The Visby class corvettes carries a complement of 43, and measures 74,7 meters in length and beam 10,4 meters.















The S-363 is a Soviet submarine of Whiskey class. It got its designation "U-137" after it ran aground near a Swedish naval base 1981 and at that time the Soviet designations were not known and therefor the U-137 was given. The design was one of the first new soviet submarines after the WWII and was inspired by the technolgy of late German designs. Production of the Whiskey class was between 1950-1960.

The Pistol m/07 was a design from Fabrique Nationale dating back to 1902. Adopted 1907 in the Swedish army and between 1916-1940 Husqvarna was producing them for the army. It was used until the 80's.

Pistol m/40 is license built version of the Finnish Lahti L-35. It's an 9mm semi automatic pistol used during 1940-1980.

The Kpist m/45 is a 9mm SMG. It's widely known abroad as the "Swedish K" because of it's participation in the Vietnam war where it was used by the USN SEAL's. It's a simple, rugged and reliable firearm with a 32rd magazine. It's simplicity and quality made sure it remained in service for many years in Sweden.

AK 4 stands for Automatkarbin 4 and is the Swedish designation for the HK G3A3 rifle. It was used by the army almost until the end of the coldwar before it was replaced with the AK 5 (FN FNC).

OR stands for Optiskt riktmedel, translating to optic sighting and a AK 4OR is a standard AK 4 with an added optic sight. Used by marksmans. 

Ak4 GRT is an Ak4 featuring an M203 40mm underslung grenadelauncher.

The Gevär m/41 is the sniper version of the m/96 bolt action rifle. The m/96 in turn is the Swedish designation for the German Mauser rifle.

Ksp 58 is the Swedish version of the FN MAG, which is a belt fed medium machinegun that fires a 7.62mm round.

Based on the American PRC 77. It has a functional design and been used in many military forces around the world. In Sweden the Ra 145 is now used by the homeguard units while the army use the Ra 180.



Pistol 88 is the Swedish designation of the Glock 17.

The Ak5 is the main assault rifle of the swedish armed forces. It's a modified version of the FN FNC 5.56mm assault rifle.

The Ak5B is the designated marksman's Ak5, featuring a SUSAT 4x scope and cheekpiece.

The AK 5 is a Swedish version of the Beligan FN FNC. Modified for use in artic climate. The AK 5C is an upgraded version featuring built in aimpoint scope and the weapon is shorter and lighter then the orginal.

The Ak5C is the modernized variant of the Ak5. Featuring many improvements, among them a shorter barrel, a picatinny rail, a vertical handle and an ambidextrous safety. The rifle comes equipped with a Aimpoint red dot sight. It's the standard assault rifle used today by the Swedish Armed Forces.

The Ak5D is the shorter version of the Ak5C.

The CGA5P is a special version of the AK 5D adjusted for the use of the Norwegian and Swedish police forces. The biggest modification is  it can only fire semi-automatic fire and it can be indentified easily since its black painted instead of the green color used by the army.

The Ksp58D features a picatinny rail and mounted Aimpoint red dot sight.

Ksp90 is a Swedish lincense built version of FN Minimi. The Ksp90 is used as a squad support weapon.

KSP 90B or more known as the FN Minimi Para light machinegun is a squad support weapon. The shorter barrel and sliding butt stock make this weapon more easy to handle than the regular model.

The Tgb 1111 is a stripped down version of the Tgb 11, featuring either a PvPj 1110 90mm recoilless rifle or a Rb 56 launcher. The main purpose of the vechile is as a light and mobile anti-armour platform.

Tgb 13 is a military terrain vehicle produced by Volvo. Tgb 13 has been in the swedish army since the production started in 1974 but should be fully retired in 2010. It carries a driver plus 6 troops.

Tgb 1314 is an ambulance version of the Tgb 13. It takes up to 4 wounded on stretchers

Tgb 20 is a military terrain vehicle produced by Volvo. This is the troop transport version of tgb 13. It carries a driver plus 17 troops. 

Tgb 40 is a multi purpose freight vehicle developed by Volvo. Maximum load is 6 tons. The vehicle has been in the Swedish army since 1974.

BV206 is a tracked articulated, all-terrain carrier developed by Hägglunds for the Swedish Army. It can carry up to 17 troops.

Pansarbandvagn 302 (pbv 302), is a Swedish high mobility armoured personnel carrier that was developed for the Swedish Army 1966-1971. It carries 8 troops and has a crew of 3 men.

A Swedish-modified version of the South-African RG32 mine-hardened patrol vehicle given the popular name Galten, "The boar". It carries a driver plus 6 troops.

Pansarterrängbil 203 is the Swedish Army designation of the Pasi XA-203 built by the Finnish company Patria Vehicles. It has a crew of 3 men and can carry 7 troops. It is armed with a 20 mm automatic gun.

The Infanterikanonvagn 91 is a high mobility light tank that was developed for the Swedish Army by Hägglunds with production runned 1975-1978. It is armed with a 90 mm low pressure gun and two 7.62 mm machine guns.

The Strf90 is the main IFV in the Swedish army. Its armed with a 40 mm gun and switch between three different ammo types instantly. It can carry up to 6 soldiers.

The Patgb 15 is based on the SEP design from Hagglunds. While yet not bought by the Swedish army it was developed to replace the Strf 90 in the future.

The Lvkv 90 is the anti aircraft version of the Strf 90. There is few differences between the models. Visually the most notably difference is the radar mounted on top of the turret. Internally instead of troop compartment there is space for radar operators and other crew members. 

Stridsvagn 81 is the Swedish Army designation for the English 240 Mk 3 Centurion tank. The tank is armed with a 84 mm gun and two 7.62 mm machine guns. It saw service 1953-1966.

Stridsvagn 102 is the Swedish Army designation for the English 240 Mk 3 Centurion tank upgunned to 105 mm. It saw service 1966-1986.

The Strv 103 is a very unique tank design which doesn't feature any turret. Due to the lack of turret it needs to stop for firing however at the time of its operation most tanks couldn't fire accuratly on the move anyway. Advantages were that it was very quick between shots and had a low profile. It still today argues if it should be defined as a tank or not.

Stridsvagn 104 is the Swedish Army designation for the tank 102 upgraded with laser range finder and diesel engine etc. It saw service 1984-2000 in limited numbers.

Based on the German Leo2 tank the Strv 122 have got some modifications to its armor, seats and command systems to make it more deadly on the battlefield. Its said by some to be the best tank in the world.



The Bandkanon 1 developed by Bofors was a Swedish self-propelled artillery vehicle in use with the Swedish Army from 1967 to 2003. It had an exceptionally high rate of fire, being able to fire 14 shells in 45 seconds. It is armed with a 155 mm gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun and has a crew of 5 men.

Field Howitzer 77 is a Swedish 155 mm howitzer developed by Bofors. The gun is fitted with a built in engine wich is used to drive the gun short distances for deployment. This places the gun between a self propelled howitzer and a conventional towed howitzer. The rate of fire is 3 rounds in 8 seconds, or 6 rounds in 25 seconds. The gun saw service 1978 - 2006.

Granatkastare 41, or mortar 41 in English. This 120 mm mortar fires up to 10 rounds a minute with a maximum range of 6 km.

Granatkastare 84, or mortar 84 in English. This 81 mm mortar fires 10-20 rounds a minute up to 6 km.

Kulspruta 36, machine gun 36 in English, is the Swedish Army designation for the M1917 Browning. It was a belt-fed water-cooled machine gun. The original calibre of 6,5 mm was shifted to 7,62 mm in the 70's. These machineguns where also mounted in twin mounts for anti aircraft use. It saw service 1936- mid 90's.

The TKSP stands for "Tung Kulspruta" which translates to Heavy machinegun, its M2 Browing and fires the standard 12.7 mm. Its well used in the Swedish army. Mounted on boats, apc's as well carried by soldiers into the fight if needed.

The GRSP is the Swedish designation of the American MK 19 grenade launcher system. Used primarily among the marine units its now spreading to different branches of the armed forces.

The Rbs 55 is the Swedish designation of the american TOW-2 system. It was primarily used on land until the much lighter Swedish Rbs 56 had been issued to troops and then the RBS 55 was mostly operated on the Helikopter 9.

The Rbs 56 is a light weight highly mobile anti tank missile system developt in Sweden. A normal crew consists of 3, the gunner, the leader and a loader. The system is carried in 3 pieces and soldiers can paradrop with the equipment if needed. The missile hits the tank through the roof and the max range is 1500 meters.

The Rbs 70 is a short range anti air missile system. A gunner aims on the target and the missile tracks a laser beam which makes it very hard to jam or spoof the missiles with flare or chaffs. This make the Rbs 70 a very lethal weapon towards helicopters or low speed/low level flying airplanes. The missile can be transported on foot by soldiers.

The Rbs 77, also known as the HAWK is a semi-active radar homing missile capable of reaching a height of 14000 meters.

The Rbs 97 is a upgraded version of the Rbs 77 Anti air missile. Among the modifications much have been done to decrease the time needed for deployment.

Pvpj 1110 is a long range version of the Grg M/48, and initially tractor pulled, then mounted on Tgb 903, and finally mounted on BV206 (version PvBv 206). On top of the pvpj 1110 a machinegun m/48 was mounted as an aiming weapon and the pvpj had a 4x scope. The Pvpj 1110 is a reciolless 9 centimeter SABOT launcher.

The Bofors 40 mm anti aircraft guns were used by almost all allied countries during the WWII and even some other forces. No longer used in the Swedish forces it was widely used and the primary anti aircraft weapon during most part of the cold war. It fires 40 mm shells.



The SKELDAR V-200 is a small surveillance UAV with a max range of 180 km and 5 hours flight endurance.



The Alouette II became known as Helikoter 2 in the Swedish armed forces. This is a light surveillance helicopter, also used for light transports, and search and rescue missions. It's top speed is a mere 170 kph. The helicopter takes a maximum of 5 people.

Helikopter 3 is the all-famouse Huey known from the vietnam era.

The Helikopter 4 , also known as "bananen" (the banana) is a multi-role medium transport helicopter, with a top speed of 270 kph (150 knots). In the anti-submarine version, this helicopter is equipped with sink bombs and anti-submarine torpedoes. As a troop carrier, it can take 26 fully equipped soldiers.

Helikopter 6 is the army version of the Augusta-Bell 206 JetRanger, same as the OH-58 Kiowa. The Hkp6B version also had inflatable pontoons, making it possible to emergency land on open water, as the helicopter was used for submarine hunting and equipped with anti-submarine torpedoes.

Helikopter 14 is the Swedish version of the NHIndustries model NH90 HCV. This aircraft was integrated in the Swedish military forces in 2007. It is a fairly fast transport helicopter, maxing out at 324 kph, or 180 knots. Maximum take-off weight is 10800 kg, maximum altitude gain is 8,7 m/s and ceiling is 6000 meters. Armament consists of door mounted machine gun when needed.

Helikopter 15 is used for tactical training, transports of personal and tactical missions. It takes 7 passengers and one pilot.



Saab 35 Draken (The dragon) was developed as a nuclear bomber interceptor during the cold war. The name draken (the kite) stems from the shape of the plane from above. 

The Saab 37 Viggen (Thunderbolt) is a Swedish single-seat, single-engine, short-medium range fighter aircraft and attack aircraft, manufactured between 1970 and 1990. Several variants were produced to perform the roles of all-weather fighter-interceptor, ground attack, and photo-reconnaissance, as well as a two-seat trainer.

The Saab 37 Viggen is a Swedish single-seat, single-engine, short-medium range fighter aircraft and attack aircraft, manufactured between 1970 and 1990. Several variants were produced to perform the roles of all-weather fighter-interceptor, ground attack, and photo-reconnaissance, as well as a two-seat trainer.

The Saab 105 airplane was intended as a schoolar airplane in the Swedish airforce, it could be equipt with rockets or gunpods and one unit operating them was called "Light Attack". The airplane was also exported to Austria.

The Tp84 air carrier is in all shapes, ways and forms a Lockheed C-130 Hercules, with only slight modifications to suit the Swedish climate and demands. This aircraft have an astonishing capability of only having to have 300 meters of runway for landing with full cargo payload of 20 metric tonnes. Accordingly, it only needs 250 meters of runway to take off as well, making it ideal for the Swedish short field air bases scattered around in the country, in the form of regular roads.

The Jas 39 Gripen is a multi role airplane. Its designed to be a fighter, attack as well reconnaissance and switch between this roles instantly. With its latest upgrades its a fully compatible NATO airplane.



The Tpbs 2000 was one of many boats used by the marine/naval forces during the cold war. This boat however became very popular and were used in many roles. It could carry 40 soldiers and were used for troop transportation and sometimes in landings operations.

The Hugin class was a small ship in the Swedish navy yet armed with anti ship missiles, 57 mm cannon and depth charges. Later versions had also anti submarine mortars. Due to its engine its lowest speed setting was 7 knots which made it hard to navigate it inside harbours.

The Norrkoping class boats were first built to be high speed torpedo boats. They were driven by 3 jet engines and armed with torpedos and a 57 mm cannon. Later on the boats were upgraded with missile launchers instead of the torpedos. Additionally it could carry depth charges.

The StrB 90H is an extremely agile and fast assault vessel, which carries a compliment of 21 (H means half platoon). This boat were manufactured in 147 units initially, but have since had big success abroad as an export commodity, where it is known as the CB90, Combat Boat 90. The CB90 is exceptionally fast and agile. Its light weight, shallow draught, and twin water jets allow it to operate at speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) in shallow coastal waters. The water jets are partially ducted, which, along with underwater control surfaces, allows the CB90 to execute extremely sharp turns at high speed, decelerate from top speed to a full stop in 2.5 boat lengths, and adjust its pitch and roll angle while under way.

The successor of the BevB 70 came during the latter part of the 1990's, and was hence called BevB 80. The new boat were somewhat larger, and carried a compliment of 8 as opposed to the previous 7, in order to increase the mission endurance capability. The BevB 80 are still in active service in the amphibious units.

The Giraffe is an advance radar that gives its operators a 3d radar image of the airspace. Detecting direction, height of anything from bombers to rockets. The first systems were produced 1977 and since then more then 400 radars have been sold while the system have been upgrades with new software and other modifications.

ARTHUR stands for ARTillery HUnting Radar and is a Swedish designed radar used for detecting enemy artillery fire and positions. It have been used in Afghanistan and is operated by several countries besides Sweden.







The Soviet An-12 is similar to the American C-130 and can carry 18 tons up to 3600 km. Some versions include a tail turret with 2x23 mm cannons. Some 900 An-12s were built and used by both military and civilian operators.

The PT-76 is light amphibious tanks that were used by the soviet naval infantry. The number comes from the caliber of the main gun which is 76.2 mm, other than that it also had a 7.62 mm machinegun. It could take part of beach landings swimming at the speed of 11 km/h. The naval infantry used the upgraded version Pt-76B.
