On June 18, 1971, President Nixon declared a war on drugs, in order to prevent illegal drugs flowing into the United States freely. During the decades that the war has been raging in numerous South and Central American nations, there has not been any signs that the coalition fighting against the cartels would have the upper hand: they raided one place of production, ten new ones opened the next day.

The first considerable won battle was the raid during which the Colombian task force in cooperation with DEA, managed to eliminate the leader of the Medellin Cartel, Pablo Escobar. This of course did not mean an end to drug smuggling from Colombia, but the rival cartels started now claiming the assets and markets of the Medellin Cartel, and fighting each other.

After taking down a number of different cartels, and noticing that this just caused new cartels and organizations to be born, the coalition realized that current organization structure is too stiff and reaction time is way too long. This led to creation of a multinational drug crime fighting unit called Drug Unit International (DUI). DUI has jurisdictions in all the nations that signed the agreement, to ensure rapid deployment to places where needed. So that the task force would not be used for political purposes, DUI was separated from governmental organizations.

After many successful operations, and taking down cartels and drug organizations, it was recognized that there is a larger organization behind the “small fishes”. Interrogations of the leaders of these smaller organizations offered a name “Los Demonio”. It seems that Los Demonio has been supplying other organizations, which opens a possibility to damage the supply of drugs greatly.

In order to understand Los Demonio better, DUI started capturing and interrogating a large number of cartel connected people, hoping to find clues of the mysterious cartel and its leaders. While doing so, DUI managed to capture an important enough person connected to Los Demonio, which caused the cartel to seek revenge: the cartel managed to capture American tourists that were having a vacation on the island of Tanoa.

The rescue operation was given a callsign “Codename Narco”. In results of interrogations two key persons were recognized: Juan “the Rat” Garcia and Diego “the Mule” Lopez. As his name reveals, “the Mule” is one of the main persons responsible for drug trafficking of the cartel. His flight records show that he is arriving at Aéroport de Tanoa and based on the intelligence he is to have a meeting in the Tanoa Sugar Company area shortly after his plane has landed.

“The Mules” safehouse has been located in the village of Yanukka, east of the Bala Airstrip. He is said to be quite a slippery guy, so capturing him requires the task force to act fast and deny any possibilities of escape.

DUI has sent a small task force, operating UAVs and helicopters to Tuvanaka Airbase, to prepare for the mission. Saving the civilians and capturing these two high-value targets, will be the first crucial step of neutralizing the threat of Los Demonio.
